Second Annual Bird Count
Please block August 10 – 12 2018 for the Bilsa BIRD COUNT in your calendar! It will take place in Bilsa, Ecuador, one of the most biodiverse areas of the world!
Our 5400 ha Bilsa reserve is located in the Province of Esmeraldas in Ecuador and contains the last remnants of the tropical rainforest along the northwestern coast of Ecuador. It is part of the Chocó Darien – Tumbesino region, one of the 25 hot spots in the world for high biodiversity and high endemism of flora and fauna. Therefore it also belongs to the world most important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs).
Our bird count provides an opportunity for bird enthusiasts to contribute important bird population data that help scientists see changes over the past years in our reserve.
